Northern Kruger Park

Northern Kruger Park is split into two sections. North of Punda Maria Gate to the Luvuvhu River and then north of the Luvuvhu River and south of the Limpopo River. The latter is known as the Pafuri Triangle or Makuleke Concession. Are you looking for a Kruger National Park safari Lodge? Try the following bush lodges. Places to visit in the northern Kruger National Park

Pafuri Picnic Site

On the southern bank of the Luvuvhu River is the Pafuri Picnic site. There are braai facilities, or you can hire a gas braai. They sell limited refreshments and have clean toilets. The bird life at the picnic site is always good.

Crooks Corner

Crooks Corner

Crooks Corner was a safe haven during the early 1900s for smugglers, gun runners, poachers, fugitives, and anyone else dodging the law. The confluence of the Luvuvhu River and Limpopo River is where the borders of Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and South Africa meet. For more info click here

Lanner GorgeVisit northern Kruger Park

Accessible only if you are staying at one of the lodges in the Pafuri Triangle. This spectacular gorge is 150m deep in places and displays ancient rock formations. The views down the gorge are spectacular.

The area is home to the Big5, but it is the 350 bird species and 80% of Kruger Park’s biodiversity in the area that make this northern section of Kruger Park a must on your bucket list.

Pafuri Border Post Camp

The Pafuri Border Post is open every day, however, there is no bridge crossing over to Mozambique so you have to drive through the Limpopo river bed. A 4×4 is essential and crossings are not possible if the river is flowing strongly.

Pafuri Walking Trails

Most of the lodges in the northern Kruger National Park off daily bush walks. You go out with a professional guide who will show you the little animals, insects, fauna, and flora. Inquire with your lodge.
